One of my co-workers was talking about packing lunch for her kids and how Nutella, having walnuts, was a banned substance. I’ll admit my first reaction whenever I hear of school policy, no matter how justified, is to dismiss it at more lazy-ass squirming to avoid having any accountability. Ever since the two or three teachers’ strikes in a row when I was in high school, I’ve put about as much faith in the education system as I would in Geddy Lee’s professional boxing career. Of course I’m aware fatal peanut allergies abound, and even the fumes of the blasted things can kill some people; It just rides me to think of school employees putting kids up against the wall for having a good ol’ PB&J sammich. It has to be done.
