Perspectives
An impeccable collaboration narrating the three views of the same event. The Officer Responding, EMS, and finally the small town ER nurse. You owe it to yourself to read these. I was so impressed the best I could put in their Comments were compliments that looked like the spam I keep clearing away.

Curse Matthew! He delivered the new Doctor Who series and now I’ve spent hours watching them. I had plans…

Yesterday I became one of the victims of the X-Box 360’s famous Red Ring of Death. It’s some kind of fucked up Karmic Cycle: I got home to find the A/C that had been busted in my apartment for at least three months fixed by the new super. Lo and behold, Matt gets in and tries to boot up “Overlord” and the three red lights appear. The remainder of the evening was underscored by incessant powering on and off hoping it was just a mood swing.
No such luck. I’m now in the process of bantering with Microsoft’s support bureaucrats and will likely have to fly the little shit to Texas. The temptation to take Sony up on their offer.

I bet his replacement is watching.
Imagine walking into work and the guy before you is hanging from the ceiling during the interview. I’d certainly step it up a notch.

Last week Will make the big step and moved back to Vancouver to pursue his career in Paramedics. The last hurdle was surviving the drive out there. While I’m sure the car and the satellite radio made it easy, the company and the fact that he was going back to that rainy shithole must have been a source of tension.
The estimate was that he should have arrived Thursday. I bet he got there Wednesday night or even a little earlier to get the torture out of the way.
Good luck, boss. See you in Paragon City.

It was better than the cartoon movie where they killed Optimus Prime. But that’s not saying much. I rather enjoyed it and other than some nit-picking points didn’t regret going to the theatre last night at all.
That Was the Straw
IGN’s review of Overlord by Codemasters is a total disgrace. I’ve been a (sucker) paying member of the site since the mid 90’s when IGN might have actually meant Internet Gaming News (which it apparently doesn’t anymore). The reviewer, whose name escapes me and I can’t be bothered to look him back up, had a bad experience that corrupted his save game and declared the game buggy. This comes on the wake of a wave of reviews that clearly demonstrated the bias IGN has against any company that doesn’t send them swag or pour buckets of money on them for advertising space. If it’s not that, that reviewer has a “style” that requires he be “hard” on hyped up games so that he demonstrates his independence from “the man.”
Fuck ‘em. Ever since they got that infamous picture of the gamer-slut licking a PSP and gave her a job based on that alone, I got a bad taste in my mouth whenever my annual charge comes up. Now that I can’t even rely on their reviews for a warning, they’re dogmeat. It’s a shame, since I found their webmail client kinda handy.
