Proof the Words Don’t Betray the Content
This creates a conflict within me: On the one hand in order to prevent a misunderstanding I’m tempted to swear my fingers off so there’s no doubt this is a nasty collection of reprehensible, tasteless humour from a low form of humanity. However, my belief that four-letter words in written work is copping our when it’s better to be vivid prevents me from just cutting loose with the sailor’s tongue that I have in person. Ask anyone, only Teddy swears more than I do.
Eh. Fuck ‘em.

I’ve been observing a strange phenomenon lately involving Food Courts. Either downtown or in the home neighbourhood I’ll see, say ten shops and only two have large clusters of people around them. Deciding I want a burger, I’ll hit the empty burger stand and within seconds a couple of the circling seagull-like patrons will get in line behind me. It’s not long before the store I chose is busy, joining the select few shops with clumps of hungry customers ordering from it.
In the events that inspired the above example, I thought it was just latest crowd to issue forth from the subway. However, later that week I visited the empty Japanese Food shop and sure enough two people almost immediately fell in line behind me and by the time they’d finished cooking my meal there was a full-fledged queue. I hadn’t come out of the TTC or entered with a group this time, they all just seemed to use the same restaurant as me because I picked it.
So, for the last two weeks I’ve been watching the Food Court at work and the one near home when the opportunity arises and saw what I’ve dubbed the “Flies to Faeces” effect. A store will sit empty at the peak of lunch for ten minutes until one brave soul drifts up, typically more cautiously than me, like the whole shop is going to lash out and swallow him. Within moments, a selection of the undecided flotsam just kinda hovering will descend on the little shop. There’s always at least half that get to the register and give the menu that moronic stare like it’s written in Sanskrit. Clearly they have no idea why they picked that restaurant, they just followed someone’s lead who looked like they knew where they were going.
I’ll see if I can shore up a camera and actual document this. I thinks it’s fascinating.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End: Good times as expected. No more suprises left so it’s probably for the best the series is done.
Shadowrun: Cute. Thin thus far; But they promise to send more downloadable content so we’ll see.
Justice League: Will introduced me to the whole line of excellent DC Universe cartoons these guys put together. They don’t make ‘em like this anymore.
Grindhouse: I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Erik: “Planet Terror” actually a pseudo-zombie flick.
Nine Inch Nails: Year Zero: I was completely unaware of its arrival and pleasantly surprised. It’s not the “Downward Spiral” or even quite “The Fragile” but I doubt anything he does ever will be. At the very least it’s finally an album off the hip like he said “The Fragile” was going to be. I haven’t been in the mood for over-produced music these days anyways.
I think there’s more but my lunch draws to a close. I’ll add if I remember any more.
